How do I get to Denver?
The simplest route is via Atlanta, changing there on Delta to Denver. You can also fly into Heathrow from Johannesburg and change there to take a BA flight to Denver. Pena Boulevard leads directly from the terminal to Route 70 which then takes you into the heart of Denver 35 minutes away.

Getting Around Denver
Denver’s circular road is more of a spiral with route 70 passing east/west across the city and route 25 passing north/south through it. This makes for easy access in and out of the city and to the neighbouring city of Boulder.

Places to see Around Denver
There are a number of famous ski resorts around Denver including Copper Mountain and Breckenridge, making it a popular hub for winter sports enthusiasts. Not renowned for its wine, Denver actually has many vineyards producing very acceptable vintages. There are a number of local wine trails signposted outside the city.

Where Should I Stay?
The Quality Inn is one of the cheaper places to stay at R750 a night and is central for the city. Elsewhere try the Warwick Denver in Uptown. It’s a very fashionable place to stay and worth the R1300 a night just for the experience.

Not to be Missed in Denver

• The Denver Mint. This is where most of America’s coinage is made and the tour and exhibition are worth every cent of the admission fee.
• The Rocky Mountains. In winter you can ski them, in summer hike and climb but whatever you do, make sure they’re on your list.
• Coors Brewery. The world famous beer is brewed in Denver and you can take a tour and sample a few pints at the end.
• Shopping. The 16th Street Mall is almost an entire street worth of shopping and is a magnet for retail therapy throughout the state.
