Getting to London Gatwick
There are no direct flights from Southern Africa to Gatwick; the closest being holiday charters from Nairobi and Mombasa. If you’re flying into Gatwick then there’s a good chance you will have been touring Europe first.

Facilities at Heathrow
Gatwick is currently undergoing a revamp of the south terminal which will see improved shopping and eating facilities. Be warned that anywhere at Gatwick involves a long walk, for many of the gates are a long way from the arrivals and departures lounges.

Getting out of Gatwick
Gatwick Airport is just off the M23 which connects to the M25 giving easy access to London. The west of England can be accessed via the M4 off the M25 whilst the north is gained by taking the M1 off the same orbital motorway. The beautiful south coast can be accessed via the M23, M3 and A3.

Places to Stay
At the hotel you’ll find a ‘capsule hotel’ called Yotel which you can book for short time periods. Not far from the airport are several very comfortable budget hotels including Premier Inn and Travelodge.

• The South of London is easily accessed along the M23 and you can enjoy seeing the deer in Richmond Park
• Kew Gardens.  The world’s premier botanical garden is within an hour of Gatwick Airport where, as well as seeing beautiful plants and flowers, you’ll learn about the history of botany and see their work on plant conservation.
