Getting to Frankfurt
You can fly with Condor from Cape Town or from Johannesburg direct with Lufthansa and South African Airways. Autobahn 5 leads north from the airport to the city centre, a journey of around twenty minutes.

Getting Around the City
Autobahns 5 and 661 form an ellipse either side of the city with main roads crossing between the two. This rough grid makes getting your bearings quite simple.

Out of Frankfurt
There are a lot of famous destinations not far from Frankfurt. If you’ve got a hire car and plenty of time you’ll find within an hour of the city you’ll get to Mainz, Cologne, Darmstadt and Weisbaden.

What to See in Frankfurt

• Romerberg. This is the old heart of Frankfurt and home to many of its historic buildings. It’s a good place to head for on your first morning to acquaint yourself with the city.
• Dom. This is the city’s magnificent 14th century cathedral and if you’re brave or fit enough to climb the stairs in the tower, you can look out over the city from almost a hundred metres up.
• Museumsufer. If you want to tour the city’s museums, they’re all collected in this one neighbourhood making a day exploring them a compact experience.
• Cityscape. Frankfurt has the highest concentration of skyscrapers in Europe and the city skyline is magnificent day or night. The best vantage points are from the city’s bridges.
